Freddie Sears has revealed he is still in talks to stay at Colchester United.
The U’s leading goalscorer is yet to sign the new deal offered to him by the U’s in October and is out of contract at the end of the season.
Sears has been linked with a move away from the Weston Homes Community Stadium when the January transfer window reopens on Thursday.
But after twice hitting the woodwork in the U’s 0-0 draw at Crawley Town yesterday, the former West Ham United striker says there is still a chance he will remain with the club.
Sears said: “I’m under contract until the end of the season and I’m in talks with the chairman all the time.
“Nothing’s really happening at the minute but I love it here and I’m happy to be here, so I don’t see why I won’t be here.
“There’s always a possibility that I might sign my contract."
