Witham Town are set to welcome captain Paul King back into their line-up for their post-Christmas outing against Canvey Island on Saturday.

King has been rested to allow him to recover from sciatica over the last two weeks – during which time they have lost at Bognor Regis Town and Dulwich Hamlet.

However, manager Garry Kimble said he expects to bring his experienced skipper back to face the Gulls.

He said: “Kingy will be back after being rested for the last two week.

“I expect he’ll come in alongside Nikko Beale, who has done ever so well, in the centre of defence as Josh Banton has gone back to Southend now after his loan spell with us.”

There is also likely to be a recall for right-back Conor Mead, who was suspended for the trip to Dulwich and Danny Emmanuel is set to return after being unavailable for the last two games.

Kimble said that striker L’Heureux Menga will also be available again after serving a ban for being sent off while at his former club Burnham Ramblers.

Menga has had a troubled time this year before joining Witham, receiving three red cards and six bookings while at Ramblers, but Kimble feels he can make a positive impact for Witham.

He said: “Menga needs to get his house in order, but if he does then he can be a big player for us as he has a presence.

“That’s a big thing and teams like Billericay have it.

“Menga has it and he can be a big player.”
