FC CLACTON boss David Coyle is urging his players to end their year on a high – rather than facing an anxious scrap to avoid relegation during the second half of the season.
The Seasiders are due to return to action in Saturday’s big Thurlow Nunn League premier division derby at Wivenhoe Town.
Clacton are fourth from bottom – one place and two points above the Dragons.
A win would therefore hoist them clear of their rivals – but a defeat would mean they end the year being leapfrogged and languishing in the bottom three.
“We can’t wait to get back in action,” said Coyle, whose side had no league game last weekend but won 6-2 in a friendly against Brightlingsea Regent Reserves.
“I still feel confident we’ll win enough games to stay up and it’s a really big game against Wivenhoe.
“I can’t underestimate the significance of it."
