A SUPERB start helped Michael Seaman to be triumphant in division one of Playgolf Colchester’s all-day stableford competition.

Playing off a handicap of nine, his round got off to a great start with a birdie on the par four first hole.

Seaman took a score of plus three to the back nine and increased it to plus four, before dropping a hole on the par three 16th.

He then halved the remaining holes to card his winning score of plus three.

Paul Addison (six) was runner-up with a level score and a card which included 12 pars, while Ron Gilzean (12) was third with a score of minus three.

Matthew Gladman (16) won a packed division two with a card-crashing score of plus five, with nine pars his card highlight.

Trevor Barnet (13) took second place with a good score of plus two, including a credible eight pars.

Mehendra Gurung carded a level round to take third place.

Harry Yearling (21) won on countback in division three with a score of plus two.

He finished ahead of Phillip Yearling (22) while Alan Pearman (25) was third with a level CSS (Competition Scratch Score) of plus one.

Dave Needham won division one of the Seniors Memorial Cup, which was played in a medal format.

A large field turned out to compete in good course conditions.

Needham (21) shot a level par round nett 70 to win the division, beating Jeff Coles (17) by a single shot.

Dave Ruxton (20) completed the top three with a nett 74.

Gregg King (26) won in division two with a nett 79, finishing a shot ahead of runner-up Des McCarron (25).

Geoff Tredgett (27) completed the top three.

Judith Peeling won division one of the Ladies’ December stableford with 32 points.

She finished two points ahead of runner-up Ann Longman, with Liz Schultz completing the top three.

Pauline Jordan took the honours in division two with 25 points, one ahead of Jennie Boyden and Catherine Harrison.

Boyden and Harrison were separated on countback, after both carded 24 points.
