Essex racing driver Alex Lynn's Formula One ambitions have been handed a boost with news that he will be testing with the Lotus F1 team in Abu Dhabi tomorrow.
The 21-year-old from Dunmow near Braintree was crowned the 2014 GP3 Series champion last weekend and is now hoping to move up into the pinnacle of single-seater motorsport.
Three of the last four GP3 champions were present in F1 this season and Lynn has been a member of the Red Bull Junior Programme this year, but a chance to take part in the end-of-season test at the Yas Marina circuit is a significant step up for him.
Lotus finished eighth in the F1 team standings last year and Lynn will be aiming to impress watching team bosses all along the paddock.
He will be involved in the afternoon testing session in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday and is one of a number of young drivers who will be taking part and looking to break into the Formula One ranks.
