FC Clacton's Aaron Condon says the “privilege” of being club captain is helping drive him on to new heights.
Last season’s top-scorer is in explosive form again, netting a hat-trick in the Seasiders’ recent demolition of Diss and then grabbing two more in Saturday’s 3-1 victory at Brantham Athletic.
Clacton followed it up by notching their fifth straight win – a hard-fought 2-1 success at Whitton United – on Tuesday night. And the long-serving front man says being skipper is making this season even more enjoyable.
“My confidence is sky-high and being captain has made a big difference,” said Condon.
“Leading the boys out every week is an absolute pleasure and privilege. When I was appointed, one of things I wanted to bring in was everyone celebrating together.
"I don’t necessarily mean a consolation goal when we’re 3-0 down.
"But if it’s a goal that really matters, I want us to celebrate as a team and show everyone how united we are.”
