Heybridge Swifts continued their play-off push with a good win against Tilbury.

The visitors grabbed a 2-0 Ryman League victory against the Dockers on Tuesday night.

Swifts made a good start with Jamie Guy shooting narrowly wide on five minutes after a flick on by Reece Morgan.

The home side’s Harry Cook had an effort on target but it was comfortably dealt with by keeper Ashley Harrison.

Guy then had a shot on the turn, after being released by Robert King, straight at the keeper.

But Swifts did take the lead through Frank Everett on 28 minutes.

On 40 minutes, Guy could have doubled Swifts lead, after being played in by Ben Newson.

Keeper James Marrable was off his line and beaten but Guy’s effort was just over the bar.

Early in the second half, Tilbury’s Piers Wixon shot wide from 25 yards.

On 55 minutes, Newson got on the end of an Everett cross but his shot lacked power and it was comfortably collected by Marrable.

Guy then went close, shooting inches wide from the edge of the box.

Marrable then collected another easy ball after Everett headed straight at him from a corner.

Tilbury were coming more into the game and Joe Christou shot wide.

Waters then went close as he curled the ball inches wide.

But, substitute Neil Cousins almost made the game safe for Swifts late on but his effort just went past the post.

Tilbury finished strongly, a good run by Joe Obersteller released Robbie Farrell but he fired over the bar on 87 minutes.

However, Swifts wrapped up the match on 90 minutes through Neil Cousins.
