Halstead and Earls Colne Eastern Martial Arts Karate Clubs can boast two new Black Belts.
Dale Brooks and Kai Frolick were awarded the prestigious grade at the twice-yearly Association Black and Brown Belt examination, at Great Cornard Sports Centre.
The pair were judged by a panel of eight senior instructors, with grades from 3rd Dan up to 6th Dan.
Along with seven members from other SEFKA clubs, the duo were assessed on all aspects of their karate training.
This included their knowledge of ‘Kata’, which is a preset training exercise, ‘Kihon’ basic techniques and ‘Kumite’ fighting skills.
The examiners also took etiquette, attitude and stamina into consideration.
The tests finished with free sparring against single and multiple opponents and self defence techniques.
Other successful Halstead and Earls Colne Club members at the Association examination were Alfie Evernett, Lisa Ratcliffe, John Farrow and Benedict Williamson.
They all passed their 2nd Kyu Brown Belt grading.
l Halstead and Earls Colne Clubs members took grades up to Brown Belt, in separate grading examinations.
Successful students were promoted to the following grades: 9th Kyu yellow belt - Michelle Gower, Matt Mackman, Ben Macklin, Kieran Smith, Charlotte Armatage, Molly Smith, Kade Moore, Jasmine Cara Holborough, Olly Rivers, Russell Sneezum, Paul Sweetingham.
To 8th Kyu orange belt - Erin Helmer, Max Rivers, Megan Oakenfull, Leanne Helmer, Tomaso Foria, Olivia Smead, Oliver Cox, Declan Halton-Woodward, Evan Hayward.
To 7th Kyu 1st green belt - Harry Ratcliffe-Bingham, Lewis Kemp, Bethany Collins, Callum Ratcliffe Bingham.
To 6th kyu 2nd green belt - Louis Finch, Rhys Williams, Chloe Root, Benedict Orbell, Chloe Rosser.
To 5th Kyu 1st blue belt - Samantha Nye, Skye Huxley, Andrew Collins.
To 4th Kyu 2nd blue belt - Aimee Debenham.
To 3rd Kyu 1st Brown belt - Emile Dutoit. Clifford Brooks. Brian Emery.
l Halstead Karate Club Meet each Tuesday at Halstead Leisure Centre.
Earls Colne Karate Club sessions take place at E.C Village Hall on Mondays.
