THE HSBC National BMX Series reached the halfway point in Glasgow and the 24 Braintree Bullets riders who made the trip North came home with some fantastic results.

Rounds five and six of the National Series were held at the new facility in Knightswood that will hold the European Games in July and Braintree's Sydney Allen continued to dominate the 15-16 cruiser class as he went unbeaten across the weekend.

Allen has won five out of the six rounds so far this year and needs just one more win to secure his first national title.

The Tabor Academy pupil also competed in the 16s class, taking a win in the B final after a thrilling last straight drag race.

Taking the top points score in the nine to ten girls for the Bullets was Freia Challis as she went unbeaten through both days of racing.

Like Allen, Challis is leading her class points table and will be looking to retain her national title for the third year running.

Back on the bike after breaking his back, hip and shoulder at the first race of the year was Oli Cutmore in the 17-29 cruiser class.

Cutmore looked to be nearing the form that has seen him secure the national title in the past couple of years as he smoothed his way to second on day one and a superb win on day two.

The 17-24 class is among the most competitive in the sport and Josh Butson has been having a fantastic season as he dukes it out with the top riders. Butson has been balancing university studies alongside his BMX racing and seems to have found the perfect mix as he stayed consistent and raced to a pair of fine third-place finishes.

Adam Gilbert had an up and down weekend after coming unclipped from his pedals in the 13 year olds leaving him down in eighth place and back in the B final on the second day.

On his cruiser, though, he was having much better luck as he battled with the leaders in the 13-14s class, taking a third on day one and following up with a fourth on day two.

Also in the 13-14 cruisers was Cam Parrish, who consistently took sixth place on both days, and Joe Little, who made his first A finals in the class rounding out the pack.

Josh Cates made the finals both days in the 9-12 cruisers and rode to fifth on day one, which he followed up with a podium finish for third on the second day.

Molly Nice was racing hard in the 15-16 girls as she took race wins in the qualifying rounds.

In the A finals she raced to fourth on the first day, with a sixth on the second.

In the upper age groups, club coach Julian Allen was out on track in the 40-44 cruiser class and the Veterans BMX class.

Leading by example, Allen made the finals in both classes over the weekend with his best results in the cruisers, scoring a sixth and a fourth over the weekend.

In the BMX he rode to a fine fifth-place finish both days.

The Bullets Summer Race Series continues on Wednesday evenings throughout the Summer.
