THE carp were spawning again at Hobbs Croft on Sunday where the Braintree Club members were fishing the second round of their Regan Cup.

Although most seemed to be preoccupied at least a few were willing to feed.

Chris Sale had one carp and some bream on his feeder rig, but a late switch to the margins saw him landing two further lumps, giving him a match-winning total of 37-8-0.

Sections (excluding winner): 1 A Luetchford 17-9-0, 2 K Rolfe 11-14-0, 3 S White 18-4-0.

The first round of the Evening Match Series fished at Notley did not produce as many fish as expected and Bernard Huxter had three carp and one F1 on the feeder to weigh in 14-8-0 for the win.

He was just ahead of Chris Orrin, who won A section with 14-4-0, while Gary Spong won B section with 13-6-0.

The Friday Sweep at Notley produced a runaway win for Billy Walker, who managed odd carp and F1s throughout the five hours for a 36-9-0 total.

Section winners were Pete Thompson 16-0-0 and Bob Read 9-4-0.

Meanwhile, Bills Tackle beat Billericay 4-2 in the Supercup at Colemans and now progress to the Southern semi-final at Gold Valley.

Top performer for Bills Tackle was Julian Collop, who won the match with 97-0-0.

On Sunday, local teams will be fishing at Southminster Pits in the first round of this season's Essex Interclub League.
