HALSTEAD Templars Rugby Club have a busy weekend ahead enhancing facilities at the Courtauld Sports Ground as well as launching a new touch rugby initiative.

On Saturday and Sunday, the Templars will be looking to improve the Courtauld Sports Ground as part of NatWest RugbyForce 2018, a nationwide programme developed in partnership with the RFU to help community rugby clubs.

NatWest RugbyForce helps local rugby clubs to improve facilities with the support of volunteers and the community, with a long-term goal of making clubs financially viable businesses.

The Templars, however, are simply looking to make the Courtauld sports facilities a more enjoyable experience for all who use them.

It is an opportunity for all club members and the local community to come together for a weekend of DIY to make a real difference.

The Templars are looking for the local community and businesses to support their efforts and anyone who would like to get involved can contact the lub's volunteer co-ordinator, Toni Arundell, on halsteadtemplars@gmail.com

As part of this weekend of community cohesion, Halstead Templars will also be launching their O2 Touch initiative.

O2 Touch is a year-round participation programme that encourages new players - male or female from the age of 16 - to try a minimal contact, inclusive version of the game and inspires former players to return to a sport they love.

With an emphasis on social fitness, music and pitch up and play activity, O2 Touch breaks down barriers to participation and is strengthening its member clubs by growing playing opportunities in local communities.

Regular sessions, which will be free to the public, will be held on Monday evenings from 7pm.

However, for the launch event, anyone who would like to give touch rugby a try is welcome to turn up from noon on Sunday.

Absolutely no experience is necessary, just bring enthusiasm and energy.
