THE Braintree Open Darts League's Summer Pairs Knockout competition saw 23 men's and six ladies' teams battling at Bocking Club for their chance to play at finals night on August 17.

There was very high scoring from all involved in both competitions, but in the ladies' contest, the semi-final line-up saw Cressing A's Sian Hayden and Josie Patterson up against Bocking's Maz Tucker and Abi Robinson.

In the second semi-final, the Swiss Bell's Jan Pearce and Rachel Farmer played their Swiss Bell team-mates Ann Farmer and Deb Webb.

It was Hayden and Patterson who booked their place in the final after the opening semi-final and joinng them will be Pearce and Farmer following their win over their Swiss Bell club-mates.

The men's semi-finals came down to Cressing A's Rhys and San Hayden against Wethersfield Club's Billy Knight-Woods and Ray Grocutt, with the second featuring the Swiss Bell's Chris Cook and Dan Taylor against Cressing B's Shane Smith and Kelvin Byrne.

Although playing some excellent darts in the best of five game semi-final, Wethersfield's pairing couldn't match the darts thrown by the Cressing A duo and, with a 3-0 win, the Haydens had their final spot booked.

A closer contest came in the second semi-final, though, with both teams winning two legs to take the game to a decider.

Both pairs had their chance at a double, however, it was Cressing's Byrne who hit the shot out to book the final spot.
