HALSTEAD Boxing Club's busy elite senior middleweight boxer Jason Bradley lost on a unanimous points decision against southpaw Regan Lazonby of the March ABC, at the Holiday Inn in Norwich.

The Halstead boxer was the last fight on at 15 minutes past midnight, but it was worth waiting for as it proved to be the best bout of the night at this popular annual dinner show.

The first round saw both boxers showing good movement and accuracy, throwing well timed combinations as each in turn pushed forward trying to outwork and outfight each other to end round one.

Lazonby just claimed the round, though.

Round two saw Bradley on fire, out-scoring his tall southpaw opponent with his rapid hand speed and flashes of good boxing as he walked through Lazonby's awkward style.

As his toughness showed through, Bradley let go with an explosive left hook which put Lazonby down for a count of eight, with the referee bringing the round to an end as the bell sounded.

Round three started badly for Bradley, though, as he found it hard to find his range against his very experienced southpaw opponent.

The March fighter slowed the pace of the bout down, displaying good technique and outsmarting Bradley with fast combinations, but Bradley turned the second half of the round to his advantage with fast bursts of punches to the body.

He had Lazonby covering up as he increased his power and work-rate and barely paused for breath as he displayed every individual punch in the manual.

With each boxer wanting the win and both camps knowing it could go either way, though, it was Lazonby who just got the nod from the judges.

Coaches Paul Turner and George Cook were in Bradley's corner.
