WITH a splendid campaign behind them, Courtaulds Halstead Bowls Club's carpet bowlers had their last match of the winter season at Great Yeldham, but they could not replicate previous victories as they won three games, drew one and lost four.
With a hard fought win and a draw, Barbara Jones, Bill Wilson, Terry Reynolds and skip Terry Bocking consolidated their performances, winning their first game 4-3 and drawing 4-4 in their second game.
On the next mat, Pat Barnes, Stan Jones, Mick Mills and skip Roy Whicker Clemence started in buoyant form, capturing their first game 6-3, but their second game was a more difficult encounter and the Halstead quartet lost 6-2.
Shirley Brace, Eric Marson, Daphne Staton and skip Bob Brace had an opening encounter that ebbed and flowed, with the home side just clinching the victory 4-3, but their second game was a different story, as it finished with a total demolition of their rivals in a 10-0 win for the Courtaulds side.
Losing both games, though, were Margaret Judd, Malcolm Wayne, Tony Jones and skip Terry Barnes.
They were beaten 5-4 in their first game and could not recover their composure for the second game as they went down 9-1.
