DESPITE challenging conditions of a dipping temperature and a stiff wind, Phil Howard, playing off ten, posted a winning 38 points in the Sunday Stableford at Braintree Golf Club.

Two others posted 37 points and after a countback Russell Hedges (14) took second spot ahead of Andrew Wiffen (8).

Phil Edwards (10) finished fourth with 36.

Scores were not so high in the Saturday Stableford where victory went to Gary Carmoody with 34 points playing off 14.

Second was Phil Edwards (10), with 33 points, while Graham Radley (16) took third place on 32 points after a countback ahead of Ron Brand (17).

The sixth leg of the Ladies’ Winter League was over nine holes in midweek and saw Gillian Barke (12) and Liz Kahn (29) top the chart with 21 points.

Second were Valda Curtis (23) and Debbie Blundell (22) with 20, while in third place - one point further back - were Julie Race (8) and Diane Wyatt (19).
