Colchester United fell to a disappointing 3-1 defeat at Wycombe Wanderers, on Saturday afternoon.

Goals from Adebayo Akinfenwa, Paris Cowan-Hall and Luke O'Nien gave the Chairboys all three points at Adams Park and condemned the U’s to a second successive defeat, in League Two.

The result sees Colchester slip to 11th place in the League Two table, and John McGreal’s men host Grimsby Town, next weekend.

Here, Colchester United reporter Jonathan Waldron rates the players in the disappointing 3-1 defeat on the road:

SAM WALKER 6

U’s keeper had a busy afternoon; denied Saunders and Moore in the latter stages.

TOM EASTMAN 6

Was part of a U's defence that conceded two poor first-half goals but contributed well in attack.

FRANKIE KENT 6

U’s skipper will be disappointed with manner of Wycombe opener but came close to scoring in the second half and also headed off his own line.

RYAN INNISS 6

A welcome return for the U’s loanee who had to deal with Akinfenwa’s threat before he was replaced in the second half.

RYAN JACKSON 6

Had his work cut out throughout dealing with the lively Mackail-Smith but got forward well.

BRANDON COMLEY 6

U’s loanee did not make a huge impact before he was replaced with 15 minutes to go.

SEAN MURRAY 7

U’s man of the match. Was influential in the second half after return to the side.

DREY WRIGHT 6

Had his moments at left wing-back but was well contained by Moore. Booked.

SAMMIE SZMODICS 7

U's leading scorer took his goal very well and had a lively second half after a quiet opening period.

KURTIS GUTHRIE 6

Was denied by keeper Brown early on but was otherwise kept quiet by Wycombe.

MIKAEL MANDRON 6

Brilliantly denied by keeper Brown midway through the second half on a disappointing afternoon for the U's.
