SIBLINGS Edwards, Elliot and Alexandra Appleby all achieved podium places in the Advanced Novice Free figure skating event, in Oxford.

The Wivenhoe youngsters were in fine form at the event and all registered personal bests (PBs).

Edward, who attends the Colne Community School in Brightlingsea, was placed first in the Junior Men's events while Elliot was third in the Advanced Novice Mens' events.

Alex, who is a student at Colchester Sixth Form College, was third in her free Ladies programme where she also secured a PB.

Edward's first place follows hot on the heels of his bronze at Advanced Novice level for Great Britain at the Golden Bear ISU competition in Zagreb.

The 12-year-old also achieved a PB, in the free programme and impressively now holds the Advanced Novice boys Total, Free and Short programme records for Great Britain.

Elliot represented Great Britain and the National Ice Skating Association (NISA) at Advanced Novice level, placing fifth after the short programme but dropping one place during the free event.

The trio train at Riverside Ice and Leisure, Chelmsford and are Sports Ambassadors for Chelmsford City Council.

Ed is grateful to Vicky and Peter at Loveiceskating for sourcing his skating equipment and providing partial sponsorship to assist towards this.
