COLCHESTER TOWN LADIES 2

LOWESTOFT 3

Eastern Region Women's League premier division

COLCHESTER Town Ladies were beaten by Lowestoft following a five-goal thriller.

Town fell behind after two minutes but levelled midway through the first half when Georgia Box set up the chance for Nancy Butler to score.

But just when Colchester expected to go into the half-time break on level terms, they conceded again.

And a bad start to the second half saw them quickly fall 3-1 down.

They gradually they began to dominate the game after that but their luck was certainly not in.

The Lowestoft keeper tipped over Kira Fitzpatrick's fine strike and then somehow managed to push Georgia Lockerbie headed follow-up over the bar. And Fitzpatrick's resulting corner hit the top the bar.

Town did finally pull a goal back when from a right-wing corner the ball rolled to Millie Wilding whose deflected shot sailed through a crowd of players and flew in.

But despite the hosts pushing hard for an equaliser in torrential rain, Lowestoft held on for victory.

Town's under-14s were 9-1 winners over South Woodham.

The visitors had no answer to the pace and shooting of home strikers Tori Adams and Yasmine Drake, who both scored hat-tricks.

Ida Webb, Amie Graves and Maddie Snell were also on target.

Town's under-12s beat Island Girls 4-1 after beginning their league season with an impressive display.

Ruby Greenleaf bagged a hat-trick in her 50th game for the club, while Matilda Wilson and Caitlin Jackson provided good assists for her two first-half goals.

After the visitors got a goal back, Lila James netted a third before setting up the chance for Greenleaf to complete her hat-trick in the second half.

Town's under-16s still urgently needs players for their team, including a goalkeeper.

These are school years 10 and 11.
