THERE are so many matches these days that it is very difficult to avoid clashes and although the Kevin Chapman Memorial match at the Fennes clashed with a Summer League match, there was still a decent entry of 31.

Ash Grounds provided the best fishing on the day and the four places all came from the lake, with a mixture of carp, F1s and bream.

Frazier Rampley fished a pellet feeder and was rewarded with the day's top weight of 78-0-0 from peg 19.

Kevin Dewsnip had 68-0-0 in second place, followed by Gary Spong with 60-0-0 and Alan Lee with 47-0-0.

Sections (excluding top four): Ash Grounds: A: G Cousens 31-0-0, B: D Harden 33-8-0, C: M Gould 35-0-0, D: T Sage 33-4-0; Hill and Black: E: R Thurlow 21-14-0, F: C Sale 32-4-0.

The match entry raffle and donations resulted in a total of £354 raised for the British Heart Foundation.

Thanks were due to James Chapman for the use of the water, Christine for the raffle and Danny Rampley the match organiser.

The Braintree Club's Notley Sweep on Friday saw Gary Tisshaw record his first club win, landing seven carp and one F1 for a 32-5-0 total.

Pete Thompson landed five carp and a few silvers, weighing 24-6-0 in second place.
