OVER the last year, the growing strength of Braintree and Bocking Swimming Club has been demonstrated by various young members claiming some long-standing club records

For Girls aged 11 to 12, Nancy Neave is now the club record holder for 50 metre freestyle with a 29.00 second swim achieved in the M11 League.

The record was previously held by H Goodwin at 29.39 and set in 1989 and Neave also claimed the 50m butterfly record with a time of 31.74 seconds that smashed the previous best of 32.01 held by A Liao since 2002.

Mia Macklin is now the proud record holder for eight and unders in six categories, including 800m, 400m, 200m, 100m, 50m and 25m freestyle.

The 100m freestyle record was previously held by S Williams since 1988 with a time of one minute 23.77s, but this was smashed by Macklin with a swim of 1m 21.80s.

The 200m freestyle and 25m freestyle had stood and been held by Nina Wiseman since 2002, the 400m record was last broken in 1995 and the 800m in 2008.

Ben Cox, 17, took over 25m open butterfly record in 12.58s from S Wager's 12.63s held since 1993, while Sam Rennie took the boys' 11/12 years 25m breaststroke best in 17.25s, which had been held by M Stretch since 1993.

Daniel Parker is now the owner of boys' nine/ten years freestyle record with 14.74s, breaking the 14.80s previously held by L Durban since 2007.

Braintree and Bocking Swimming Club is open to all age groups of boys and girls and is open to new members.
