HALSTEAD Road Runners' Dan Smith took another step towards his 100th marathon when he raced at the 2012 Olympic rowing venue at Dorney Lake.

The course offered no shade and claimed a number of casualties due to the heat, however, seasoned marathoner Smith finished in four hours 52 minutes.

There were a couple of ten kilometre races on offer for Halstead members.

Rachael Roughan did the Hatfield Forest 10K, finishing in a time of 47m 34s as fifth female home, while Treena Harrington did the Steeple Bumpstead 10K in 57m 38s.

On the hottest day of the year, Andy Kemp had his first go at an Olympic Distance Triathlon at Fritton Lake near Great Yarmouth.

The race consisted of a 1,500m swim in the lake followed by a two-lap 40km bike ride and a three-lap 10km run.

Kemp completed the course in a total time of two hours 52 minutes.
