HALSTEAD Road Runners' ladies all gained podium positions in their respective age categories as the second of the Friday Five series of races was hosted by Stowmarket Striders.

Hazel Buist continued her outstanding form in claiming yet another personal best (PB), finishing third in the female senior category in a time of 34 minutes 45 seconds.

Charlotte King was first in the FV35 category in 39m 18s, with Caroliena Cameron second in the FV45 in 37m 15s.

Andy Owen was first back for Halstead Road Runners

The course was predominantly on road and took place in rather warm conditions, but Owen raced home in 32m 22s.

He was followed by Stewart Ellis, who was making a welcome return to the racing scene, in 33m 27s, while Ashley Hood finished in 34m 2s, with Simon King in 36m 41s.

Les Morley celebrated his milestone 50th parkrun at Great Notley on Saturday.

Axel Voigt got a course PB of 29m 21s, while Nicole Smith also got a course PB of 25m 22s and was first FV45-49.

Phil Jeffries reaped the benefits of his recent training with the club by knocking almost two minutes off his time, finishing in a PB of 25m 55s.

At Great Cornard Kathryn Bronson was first lady in an impressive time of 22m 23s.

Heidi Worf was also at Great Cornard for her first parkrun.

Undertaking some parkrun tourism, Tom Porter was fifth overall and first in the VM35-39 age category at Basildon parkrun.

It was the third parkrun in a row where he has claimed age category honours.

Finally, Worf returned to St Albans on Sunday – the venue for her first half marathon a year ago.

The tough course and heat did not impact on her performance as she finished in a PB of two hours 3m 59s.
