LAST weekend, BT Sport and Sky Sports went head-to-head with their boxing shows being televised at the same time for the first time ever.

I was pleased to see this as the more boxing there is on TV, the better it is for pros like me.

The more coverage the sport can receive, the more it benefits fighters like me to attract attention and sell tickets to shows.

Boxing is really booming right now and the UK are leading the way for talent, with ten world champions.

I’m pretty sure most people wouldn’t even be able to name half of those so I’d like to list them right now to give them the attention they deserve: Anthony Joshua (IBF world heavyweight champion), Nathan Cleverly (WBA world cruiserweight champion), James DeGale (IBF world super-middleweight champion), Billy Joe Saunders (WBO world middleweight champion), Kell Brook (IBF world welterweight champion), Terry Flanagan (WBO world lightweight champion), Lee Selby (IBF world featherweight champion), Lee Haskins (IBF world bantamweight champion), Jamie McDonnell (WBA world bantamweight champion) and Khalid Yafai (WBA world super-flyweight champion).

I have to also mention the main man, Tyson Fury, who still holds The Ring Magazine heavyweight belt, which is bestowed to the winner of a fight between their number one and number two ranked fighters. It’s their own version of the lineal champion.

Also, Carl Frampton, who will be back as a world champion in his next fight, I have no doubt.

Talking about these champions, my next fight will be my very own chance to get my hands on my first professional title.

I’m training hard for my next fight on June 10 at London’s York Hall, where I’ll challenge for the British Challenge light-heavyweight belt.

It’s an eight-round contest and the win will mean the British Boxing Board of Control will then be able to accept me as a contender for the Southern Area title, which is a ten-round contest.

The British Challenge belt serves as proof that the boxer can handle the championship rounds and being a winner shows they have the quality to mix it at that higher level.

So, it’s a huge fight for me and I’d love to get the support of the local area in the ring that night.

The crowd can really spur you on when you’re in there and get you over the line in the most demanding sport in the world.
