THE final round of the East Anglian BMX Winter Regional series saw 29 Braintree Bullets riders venture to Peterborough where they claimed victory in the overall club standings by 139.3 points from their nearest challengers, Norwich Flyers.

The first class win for the Bullets came in the seven and unders as Heath Thomas went unbeaten all day to claim victory on the day and the series points win.

Heidi Gill also made the final against the boys and raced to a seventh-place finish.

Freia Challis took the challenge to the boys in the nines and yet again went unbeaten all day.

The British and National girls' champion will now begin the defence of her titles at the first National Series meeting in Manchester next week.

The next class win for the Bullets came from Joseph Long as he remained consistent through the day to claim victory by just one point with a win that was enough to see him take the overall series title.

Ben Owen also made the top five in the class.

Next on the top step of the podium was Cameron Parrish in the 12s.

He went unbeaten all day as club-mates Joseph Harris and Ewan Thomson gave chase.

Thomson had been the most consistent through the series and went on to claim the overall win.

Parrish was also riding in the cruiser class and showed supreme fitness as he competed in 11 races across the day.

Also making podiums through the day was Molly Nice as she took second in the 14s, while Lewis Little had a third in the 15s and Andy Heighes was also in the top three in the combined cruiser class.

Sydney Allen was looking good for the class win in the 15s on his return to racing following his recovery from a broken leg and won his first three races but was unable to compete in the final.

Bringing the curtain down on a great days racing was the over-17s Payback class with four Bullets among the fastest racers from across East Anglia.

Taylor Andrews had a great start but was unable to capitalise on the position and slipped back to second through the first turn

Down the second straight, the pack bunched and Josh Butson jumped his way through to third and gave chase on Andrews.

It was a close-fought race, but Andrews settled for second with Butson third and Hayden Challis found a space to take seventh from club coach Julian Allen, who finished eighth.

The final round of the Bullets winter series is on April 2 at their Deanery Hill track.
