THE penultimate round of the East Anglian BMX Winter Regional series saw 39 Braintree Bullets BMX Club riders venture to Ipswich to push their lead in the overall standings.

The first class win for the Bullets came in the nines as Freia Challis took the challenge to the boys and went unbeaten all day.

The British and National girls champion came from the outside gate in the final and her technical dominance shone through.

Thomas Richardson also made the final finishing fifth.

The next class win for the Bullets came from Cameron Parrish in the 12s.

Parrish went also went unbeaten all day through four heat races, semi-final and the final alongside riding in the cruiser class too, showing supreme fitness. Josh Cates put up a good fight to finish second, with Ewan Thomson in fourth and Joseph Harris in sixth.

Adam Gilbert rode up in the 14s and was the next Bullet to take a class win.

Dropping only one point all day, he looked great on his way to the win.

Molly Nice also made the podium in the class as she smoothed her way to third, with Joe Little chasing her down in fourth.

The final class win for the Bullets went to Hayden Challis in the 16s.

Off the gate, he was electric and didn’t drop a point all day, while Thomas Knight rode to fifth in the class with Lewis Little just behind.

Also making podiums through the day were Heath Thomas and Olly Cates, who took second and third in the seven and under class, Joseph Long who took third in the tens, Chloe Ollett with a second in the 11-12 girls, Macey and Roxy Hinton in the over-16 girls with Abbey Pattle just behind in fourth and Jamie Collins with a third in the over-17 cruiser class.

Bringing the curtain down on a great day's racing was the over-17 class with three Bullets among the fastest racers from across East Anglia.

Club coach Julian Allen was in the mix through the first half of the lap but got shuffled back to sixth after a battle with Dan Gilbert, who overcame the Veteran to take fifth.

Chasing the pair down was Matt Goodwins, who finished seventh.

The Bullets home club series continues on the first Sunday of the month through the winter at their Deanery Hill track.
