THE Essex Golf and Country Club's seniors hosted their counterparts from the Notleys in their last friendly of the year and made sure they finished on a high with a convincing 7-0 win against the visitors.

Roger Springett was nearest the pin on the par three seventh hole.

Meanwhile, there was a turnout of 35 seniors in a stableford off the difficult white tees and on a day when the weather just couldn't make up its mind, a mixed bag of scores were posted.

Nearest the pin on the seventh was Gordon Millin and on the par three 14th, it was Keith Harris.

In third place on countback with 35 points was John Phillipson, with second place, with a very creditable 36 points, going to Jim Patey.

However, the winner, with 37 points, was Andy Greenwood, who also received a handicap trim from 25 to 24.
