ELEVEN personal bests were set and a club record was smashed as 24 Witham Running Club members took part in the Essex Ten Mile Championships at Tiptree.

Dave Campbell was Witham's first man home in a new personal best (PB) of 63 minutes 27 seconds, while the club's first lady home, Vicky Hunt, set a new PB as well as rewriting the Witham record books with her time of 71m 12s.

Hunt now has four club records to her name.

Steve Hennings continues to go from strength to strength and knocked six minutes off last years’ time to earn himself a new PB of 78m 42s.

Hunt, Shelley Enders and Anita Grainger narrowly missed out on a county bronze medal for ladies’ teams, coming home in fourth place.

Graham Eyre took on his first ten miler and finished in 80m 10s.

Elsewhere, a trio from Witham took on the Royal Parks Half Marathon in London.

RESULTS: James Blackshaw 01:37:49, Kerry Townsend 02:19:49, Dave Holdich 02:22:16.

Paul Thomas took on the Great Eastern Half in Peterborough and finished in 1h 46m 21s.
