TWO important competitions were held at Frinton Golf Club.
The club's men played in a two-day competition over 36 holes for the Arthur Havers Trophy (scratch) and Markham Bowl handicap medal and the ladies vied for the Centenary Salvers.
In the men’s event, James Hide won the trophy with a gross score of 153.
He also had the best nett score.
Second place went to captain Peter Webster and third to Doc Morrison.
Although Jason Nicholls had the best score overall, as a country member he is ineligible to win silverware.
The Centenary Salvers scratch and handicap salvers are medals played over 36 holes in two days and Michelle Lawton won the scratch salver with a score of 180.
The salver was first presented to the club in 1995 by Gladys Chamberlain.
Caroline Gard was in second place.
The handicap salver, presented in the same year by Janet McMillan, was won by Judy Taylor with a nett score of 149. Margaret Dean was in second place.
Finally, the ladies played a Harris Bowl match.
Two Frinton players had to drop out at the last minute due to illness.
Since there are only five matches in the Harris Bowl, Frinton needed to win all three of theirs to win the day and they did just that - a fantastic achievement.
Congratulations to victors Linda Hayles, Judy Taylor and Lily Taylor.
