CRESSING’S Jason Morland is focusing on regaining the Jack Hubbard Trophy title at Sunday’s annual motocross event organised by Braintree and District Motor Cycle Club at Stisted.

The two-time Jack Hubbard winner and expert class rider had the crown narrowly taken off him by Suffolk’s Ben Talbot last year so will be keen to get it back this time around.

The Trophy goes to the best MX1 rider over three 20-minute races around the one-mile Stisted course with its punishing bumps and cambers.

Track builder Aaron Smith, who also races in the NGR over-30s Championship, is planning some exciting new innovations at the course, which spreads over four meadows, courtesy of Dixon-Smith Farms and Whitehead Farms.

The two Braintree riders are up against Stisted’s rising Enduro star, William Hughes, and there will also be a full line-up of EVO (pre-1990 machines), promising close racing in this increasingly popular class.

Spectators, who are free to mingle with the riders in the pits, will be able to watch the action from the middle field as well as the start straight and bomb hole areas.

Practice starts at 10.30am on Sunday, with racing running from 11.30am until 5pm.

The entrance is directly off the A120 on the Colchester side of the Marks Farm (Tesco) roundabout before the Stisted turn-off.

Admission is £8 for adults, £5 over-60s and £1 children.

Anyone who would like to marshal is welcome and will receive instruction as well as a refund of their admission.

Supporting the promotion is local business G & B Finch Ltd and also the family of the late Braintree scrambling and grass-track legend Jack Hubbard, who will make the presentation.
