Jenny Starr has become the new lady captain of Gosfield Lake Golf Club.
Starr was joined by her vice-captain, Cathy Hatcher, at the traditional drive-in ceremony, with many of the ladies wearing clothes using the colours of the rainbow, as the Rainbow Trust is the new captain’s charity this year.
RESULTS: Drive-in competition: Lakes: Ladies: 1 Pat Holmes, 2 Cathy Hatcher, 3 Clare Lager; Men: 1 Malachy Shields, 2 Gary Lewis, 3 Rob Stewart. Meadows: Ladies: 1 Carole Hodgson, 2 Ann Spalding, 3 Marji Staples third. Men: 1 Richard Maynard, 2 Peter Herbert, 3 Peter Beeching.
Meanwhile, the ladies at Gosfield Lake had a 4-1 win against Basildon in the Essex County Harris Bowl.
The team was Hatcher, Pam Stevens, Jo Craig, Carole Robinson and Margaret Byford and this win was followed by a 3-2 win over Stapleford Abbotts in the Essex County Silver Trophy.
That team featured Mel Ponsonby, Georgina Penketh, Sandra Parnell, Hilary Chase and Starr.
