A headed goal from Oliver Bond saw the Braintree Town Irons win a one-sided final and lift the trophy at the invitational tournament at FC Redwing at Barleylands Farm in Billericay.
The tournament attracted 100 teams from various age groups and the Irons, who will be going into under-nines football next season, knew they had to win their group to progress into the knockout stages.
Despite being up against some older teams, they did exactly that to make it into the semi-finals. A team from Aveley were beaten 3-1 to set up a final showdown against another Aveley side, when Irons dominated and emerged victorious thanks to Bond’s header.
The Irons team consisted of goalkeeper Ben Wallace, Archie Mansfield, Calum Digby, Lenny Green, Logan Green, Jayden Tucker, Bond, George Powell and Harry Root.
The team’s managers are Paul Bond and Leighton Green.
