Witham Town manager Garry Kimble is happy with the “workable” playing budget he has been given this year, but knows he has plenty of building work to do this summer.

A number of players from last year’s squad, that got relegated from the Ryman League premier division, have now said they won’t be returning and Kimble knows he will have to strengthen ahead of the start of their division one north campaign.

But he is glad the club have handed him a budget that he can achieve that with.

He said: “I’m reasonably happy with it as it’s a budget I can work with, but this year won’t be easy.

“It’s a consolidation budget.

“We won’t win the league with it, nowhere near, but I think after going down and the drop in attendances, it was inevitable that it would drop.

“All managers will always want more, but it’s workable."
