RICKY Griggs was a double award-winner at Brightlingsea Regent’s end-of-season presentation night – and celebrated by signing a 12-month contract with the Ryman League side.
The highly-rated attacking full-back, who joined from Heybridge Swifts, has committed himself for the 2015/16 season.
The news is a big boost for the North Road club, in their quest to mount another promotion push next term, and was announced at their presentation night, on Saturday.
It capped a great night for Griggs personally as he also walked away with the supporters’ player-of-the-year prize, as well as being the joint-winner of the players’ player award with Matt Cripps.
Centre-half Cripps was also a double award-winner, having won the manager’s prize handed out by boss James Webster.
Former Ipswich Town Academy star Amir Berkane walked away with the young player-of-the-year prize, while the top goal-scorer trophy was shared by Phil Kelly and Ben Newson.
Both finished the season with 18 goals.
Brightlingsea were able to reflect on a season of great success at their awards night.
In their first campaign at Ryman League level, they finished sixth and only just missed out on the play-offs by two points.
