Braintree Town boss Alan Devonshire has said there is no truth in a report linking him to the vacant Aldershot Town manager’s position.
Devonshire had been named as a possible successor to Andy Scott, who left the Shots hotseat in January over the weekend, but the former West Ham legend said that wasn’t the case.
He told the Times: “I’ve had no contact with anyone at Aldershot Town.
“The story is a fabrication and there’s no truth in it.”
Iron chairman Lee Harding added: "On Thursday evening, Alan and I had a meeting about next season.
"We are keen for him to stay and he indicated that he is enjoying it still here.
"It has been a tough year with all the serious injuries we've had, but we have battled our way through and there have been successes.
"We talked about next season in our meeting and nothing we said about Alan going anywhere."
So rather than lining up another job, Devonshire is concentrating on the one he has – getting Braintree Town back to winning ways when they face Macclesfield Town at home tomorrow night after a tough run of games on the road.
