Halstead Town moved to within five points of the Thurlow Nunn League division one's top three places with a 3-1 win at bottom-placed Woodbridge Town.

The Humbugs came into the game looking to bounce back from the disappointing 2-0 defeat by Stowmarket Town two weeks before and gave themselves an early boost with a opening goal in the fourth minute.

They doubled their lead in the 17th minute and even though the hosts got one back, Tom Cook's strike in the second half wrapped up a profitable day for Halstead.

They stayed ninth in the division one table but the result moved them to within five points of third-placed Debenham LC.
