Colchester United are hoping to extend David Fox's stay at the club this week.
The experienced midfielder has held contract talks with the U's, with his three-month deal due to end tomorrow.
Fox, 31, has made 15 appearances for Colchester since returning for a second spell with the club, last October.
And the U's are confident of keeping the former Norwich City player at the Weston Homes Community Stadium until the end of the season.
Colchester boss Tony Humes said: “After the initial talks, it was clear that David was keen to stay.
“It’s just getting the finalities out of the way to get into that position to get something sorted."
