Three brothers from Halstead played a major role in helping their school book a place at the regional schools table tennis finals by leading them to victory at the Essex Schools Team Table Tennis Championships.

Ten-year-old William Bettley, Alexander Bettley, who is eight and six-year-old James Bettley, who all play for the Earls Colne-based NETTS Club, joined Charlie Allison, from Colchester, in leading Holmwood House School to triumph at the county event.

Playing in the under-11s category, the three Bettley brothers and Allison were the youngest team at the championships, but both William and Alexander went through the day unbeaten, while James and Allison both won at least half their matches.

The Holmwood House team progressed to the final where they comfortably beat the opposition 4-0 and they now progress to the regional finals which will be held in London in January.
