Essex University schoolboy Alfie Lucas enjoyed a comfortable win over Romford boxer Regan Waller at Southend.

The experienced Waller, from the Five Star club, was a tough call for Lucas.

Shorter, but very compact, it was to be a good learning experience for Lucas.

Waller took the centre of the ring from the opening bell, but this suited the Essex University junior who used his ringcraft to build the points.

A fast left jab landed on the nose of Waller, who threw punches out of distance.

Lucas kept his movement going and won the first round convincingly.

The Five Star boxer found his range more in the second and landed a left-right that Lucas replied with in similar fashion.

Lucas allowed himself to sit on the ropes too often and got caught with some strong right hands.

This was a close round but Lucas knew what he had to do to win.

From the final bell, he stayed on his toes jabbing with the left and cuffing with the left hook and moving out of distance.
