Three members of SD School of Martial Arts travelled to Milton Keynes with coach Martyn Morrisson for the BCCMA British Sanshou (full contact) Championships.

Sanshou uses techniques from Kung Fu and kickboxing, as well as throws, sweeps and grappling.

First up was Carl Eliffe, who had some tough fights but still came away with the bronze medal for his weight category.

This was a fantastic achievement given it was his first competition.

Next up was William Timmis, who fought up from his junior category in an exhibition bout against a heavier adult opponent.

Putting his grappling training to good use, he won his bout in two rounds to take the gold medal.

Finally, Leon Roberts was up in the heavyweight category.

After a superbly-fought technical final, he took gold and because of his performance he was then asked to take part in an exhibition bout against a fighter from the British team.

Roberts fought exceptionally well to take silver in a close fight with a much more experienced fighter.
