Gavin Massey believes a new-found fighting spirit has been key to Colchester United’s turnaround in fortunes.
The U’s are enjoying their best sequence of form for two years, having embarked on a four-game unbeaten run in League One.
Tony Humes’ side have lost only one of their last seven league matches, coming from behind to claim points in each of their last four fixtures.
Massey feels the changes at Colchester have been “massive” since their winless run, at the start of the campaign.
And the U’s attacker, who recently signed a new contract with the U’s, says an increased battling spirit has played a big part in their rise up the table.
Massey said: “We’re a tight group and there have been massive changes since the start of the season.
“Everyone’s fighting for each other and you can see that on the pitch.
“People will shout at each other and give out criticism on the pitch but we take that on the chin.
“We’re flying at the moment and the boys have been class.
“We go into every game thinking that we’re going to get something out of it and we don’t think we’re going to lose.
“We haven’t had an unbeaten run for a long time - the last time we did it was when the previous gaffer took over.
“We’re not really thinking about runs at the moment but we know that we’re a resilient team.”
