Halstead Town manager Mark Benterman is backing his players to bounce back strongly from their FA Cup exit at St Margaretsbury when they return to league action today.

The Humbugs are due to host Kings Lynn Town at Rosemary Lane (kick-off 3pm) in Thurlow Nunn League division one looking to extend their perfect start to the season in the league.

They have won their opening three games without conceding a goal, however, allowed six to go in as they were beaten 6-2 in their FA Cup extra-preliminary round replay at St Margaretsbury on Tuesday.

It was a disappointing ending for Halstead as they had felt unfortunate to not win the first meeting, that ended 0-0, and had then led 1-0 in the first attempt to stage the replay, which was abandoned due to a floodlight failure.

Benterman said: “If I’m honest, the game should have been won the first time we met but we drew 0-0.

“When you face a side from a higher level, you usually have to take your chance when you get it, but we didn’t do that."
