Halstead Cricket Club’s players are determined not to let the good position they have got themselves into slip away as the Marshall Hatchick Two Counties Championship season reaches its climax.
The Star Stile club are sitting second in division two and know that a quartet of wins from their four remaining games will mean they are promoted back to the top flight.
The first of those four games comes with a home fixture against bottom side Ipswich and East Suffolk tomorrow (start 1pm).
Even though the visitors have won just twice all season, Halstead can’t afford any complacency and vice-captain Josh Wells knows they must hold their nerve at the business end of the season.
He said: “We can’t let it slip away now.
“If we win all our games we will go up, simple as that.
“We have every opportunity of going up and we want to catch (current leaders) Frinton as they can be caught and we would love to go up as champions.
“If results go our way, we can do that – 100 per cent."
