Braintree Town recorded their first win of the Conference premier season.

They secured a 3-0 win at the Amlin Stadium on Tuesday night against visiting Dover Athletic.

Braintree took the lead after Dan Sparkes whipped in an excellent left-footed free-kick following a foul by Dover’s Craig Stone.

A static defence allowed Alan Massey to run in and head the ball into the back of the net on 12 minutes.

On 25 minutes, Braintree town doubled their lead when Dan Walker forced his way into the box.

He mishit his shot and the ball fell to James Mulley who made no mistake.

An unmarked Jake Reid then went close for Dover from a free-kick but his free header from the penalty spot just went over the bar.

Braintree went close three minutes before half-time when Dan Sparkes delivered a great corner and Sean Marks’ header down was cleared off the line by goal-keeper Mitch Walker.

Dan Walker flicked the ball on for Sean Marks but his shot was well saved by Mitch Walker in the Dover goal 17 minutes into the second half.

Chez Issac then got lucky as the ball struck his hand in the Braintree box and the referee turned down appeals for a penalty.

But Massey wrapped up the win with a great headed goal from a Sparkes corner on 85 minutes.
