Dunne: everyone has to play their part

First published in Sport by

JOE Dunne has told his Colchester United squad they must be team players this season - or risk being shown the door.

There is plenty of competition for places within the U’s squad, following the arrival of the likes of Sean Clohessy, Dan Holman and Ben Gordon this summer.

And Dunne has stressed it is crucial that everyone plays their part for Colchester when their new campaign gets underway, on August 9.

He said: “We can’t carry anyone - we have to get a whole team through the season.

“The way we play, we need to be explosive and everyone has to play their part.

“If they don’t, they can go.”

Having MANAGED companies during my working life-I know that the buck stops with the MANAGER.
Bring in the results and you keep your job.
The MANAGER decides who to employ, who to train, who create profits for the firm.
There is no job for life-Every month is a test of the MANAGERS worth.
If the results are good-other firms will want to employ the MANAGER or the employer needs to reward the MANAGER.
If the results are bad-its the revolving door.

Putting the Media and their Laptops in the main stand has been a huge mistake at Weston Homes.
The main stand at Layer Road was full of passionate, never say die supporters. They hated losing and vented their praise or anger in no uncertain terms.
Lets have those seats back and kick out the Media.
Put some life back.

Tat's unlikely Joey boy, we can't afford to replace players and pay up contracts for failures.

In my opinion, the gazette have published this wrong. Gazette quote.... "There is plenty of competition for places within the U’s squad"...... But it seems Joe is saying the opposite. If one player does not play well, he will be replaced because we can't afford to carry anyone.

I think I would have a little more respect for Joe Dumb if he stopped stating the obvious before and after every game and came to the party with a real strategy to stop us being in another relegation dogfight! Take the rose tints off Joe and see it for what it really is......worrying! Anecdotes win nothing!
