Halstead Cricket Club’s players know they can’t let their minds wander to their big forthcoming game against Frinton seconds as they have a job to do against Exning first.
The game against Frinton on August 2 will see the current top two in Marshall Hatchick Two Counties Championship division two go head to head, but vice-captain Josh Wells has said everyone at Star Stile needs to focus on today before they get to that fixture.
A six-wicket defeat at Elmstead Grasshoppers last weekend, when a lost toss proved costly for Halstead, has made a success against Exning even more important.
Wells said: “The table is looking very tight and no-one can afford to have a string of bad results.
“Look at Braintree – they were pushing for the top a couple of weeks ago and have lost the last few and are now back in mid-table.
“We know it’s a massive game coming up against Frinton, but we have to focus on this game first.”
