HALSTEAD Town manager Mark Benterman believes his team will have the tactics to win promotion from Thurlow Nunn League division one this season.

Benterman has analysed his team’s performances from last year, when they fell just short of claiming a place in the premier division, and is set to shake things up when they return to action next month.

The Town players have now returned from their summer break and are in training ahead of an exciting pre-season opener against Conference South side Concord Rangers at Rosemary Lane on July 12.

And Benterman is expecting them to line up a bit differently after lessons he learned towards the end of his first year as Halstead Town boss.

He said: “I have learned a lot from last year.

“We were still challenging for promotion with three games to go at the end of the season and I now want to use what I learned starting with our pre-season games.

“We played in a 4-3-3 formation throughout much of the season, which was fantastic and it worked well, but with the players who we have brought in this summer, we will be looking to change to a 4-4-2 formation."
