SOUTHEND heavyweight Michael Bourne is headlining a charity boxing show at Concord Rangers.

The 6ft 1in fighter has won 17 of his 18 fights and tops the bill as The Beachboys host an evening of fundraising for the Indee Rose Trust at the Aspect Arena this Saturday.

The club has installed a 1,400-capacity marquee on the pitch and will feature up to 20 bouts, with top amateurs, juniors and women’s fights on the card.

Middleweight boxers Toby Gordon, Alan “Chopper” Hopkins, and 67kg-man Ricky Attreed will all be taking to the ring, as will Concord match-day announcer Toby Wicks.

England’s World Cup opener against Italy will be screened live at 11pm after the boxing – which starts at 5pm.

Organiser Danny Morgan, a 32-year-old former fighter at Canvey Boxing Club, said: “We are sure it will be a great atmosphere and an enjoyable night for everyone.

“It would be great to have a sell-out and we have sold more than 500 tickets already. We are supporting a brilliant local charity so would appreciate as much support as possible.”

Tickets are available from Morgan at Fitness Gym, 125 Furtherwick Road, Canvey, SS8 7AT.
