Witham Town manager Garry Kimble said it was a tough decision but James Stevens’ performances and goals from midfield in their successful Ryman League division one north promotion campaign earned his vote in the club’s end-of-season awards.
Stevens took the Manager’s Player-of-the-Year award at the annual awards ceremony last weekend, while goalkeeper Martyn Guest claimed the Players’ Player-of-the-Year award and Kris Newby the Supporters’ Player-of-the-Year award.
Kimble said: “It could have been a number of players as they did so well and people like Seb Murfet, Danny Emmanuel and Kris Newby could have taken it, but I thought James did ever so well and him getting 20-odd goals from midfield played a big part in us getting promoted.
“If he wasn’t in the side we missed him."
