Two dispersal orders have been put in place for the Pipps Hill, Cranes Farm and Burnt Mills Industrial areas of Basildon over this weekend.
The first order commences at 6pm, on Friday the 22nd June 2018 to 6am on Saturday the 23rd June.
The second order commences at 6pm on Sunday the 24th June 2018 to 6am on Monday 25th June.
The order is in response to two car meets that are planned to take place in Basildon this weekend.
Inspector Steve Parry, from Basildon Community Policing Team, said: “This order has been put in place, as previous meets have caused significant alarm and distress to local residents, due to the noise of the stereo and exhaust systems.”
“Recent meetings in Essex have seen disorder, requiring significant police resources and also saw officers being injured.”
“I have taken a decision to utilise a section 35 Dispersal Order, a power provided under the Crime and Policing Act 2014 to combat Anti-Social Behaviour.”
“We’ll be patrolling the area with officers from our Roads Policing Unit, and will be using a drone to capture evidence of any offences and anti-social behaviour.”
“Thank you in advance to the local community for their patience, and for supporting us with the matter.”
