A woman who was to be three times over the drug drive limit during a roads policing operation in Pitsea has been disqualified from driving.

Elizabeth Carter, of Basildon Drive, Basildon, appeared at Basildon Magistrates’ Court on her 36th birthday on Saturday, June 16.

She was banned from driving for 12 months and was ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

Carter had been due to appear at court on Tuesday, June 12, but failed to attend. A warrant was issued for her arrest and she was arrested on Friday, June 15.

At around 8.50am on Thursday, February 8, we stopped Carter in Pitsea Road and a drugs test found that she was three times over the drug drive limit for cocaine.

Adam Pipe, Essex Police’s Head of Roads Policing, said: “Driving under the influence of drink or drugs seriously impacts on your ability to react to something on the road and consequences can be fatal.

“It is not acceptable and it ruins lives and I find it particularly galling that people think they can get away with it.

“Our message is simple - ‘Drive Safe Drive Sober’.
